end of a great first year (2006 season)!

Well, our first Kingwood Triathlon Club season is over!  And what an exciting one it has been for us !KTC has really achieved a lot this year.  Beginning in February 2006, we ended this year with 62 MEMBERS and ranked 2nd place for the South Midwest Region club rankings!  We could not have been this successful without your participation... racing in a total of 30 duathlons/triathlons during this season.  THANK YOU

As a club, we competed in 6 races.  Some of these top events were Tejas, Cinco Ranch and Ironstar.  At these races, we had over 22 KTC members racing!  Plus, we are proud to have some of the top athletes that represent KTC.

I would like to highlight our 2006 Top Performing Male and Female Athletes!  The criteria is based on an athlete's average placing for this year's competitions.

  • our Top Female Athlete is Julie MosierJulie completed her most successful competitive year to date and completed 5 races being #1 overall female in every race!!!

  • our Top Male Athlete is Josh Rubin:  Josh raced in 6 events placing in 2nd, 3rd (3 times), 4th, and 5th!

Kingwood Triathlon Club is proud to recognize and congratulate both athletes for their top performances!!!

As you know, we just had our end of the year banquet, which was a blast! For those of you who missed it, we had over 70 guests come to dinner and participate in multiple raffles for great prizes (including a triathlon bike) and received mock paper plate awards.  All committee heads and executive committee members were recognized for their help with this first season.  We also recognized our spouses and family members for allowing us to complete such a great season.  We couldn't have done this without their support!  Barb Campbell along with one of our sponsors Shannon's Fine Jewelry gave out T-shirts to the spouses of all Ironstar Finishers.  During the banquet we showed a slide show to recap the season and all the great races and fun we have had.

Other awards and recognition were:

  • Athlete who competed in the most triathlonsFemale: Diane Jensen and Male: Jeff Pack and Josh Rubin

  • Best guest speaker attendance:  Heike Fleuchaus

  • We had lots of fun with our first raffle, and the Grand Prize Raffle (from Ryan at Bicycle's Etc.) went to Jeff Pack!  A new specialized Triathlon Bike!

Finally, Jama and Tina discussed the plans for 2007 season, which included such social events as: golf scramble, family picnics, volleyball/softball games, Astros Games, and participating in the Galveston Triathlon Festival by working an aide station.  Club uniforms will include cycling shorts and the possibility of cycling shirts.  The club also hopes to use feed back from our survey to improve training and guest lectures.

Thanks again to all of our members who helped make Kingwood Triathlon Club a very successful and fun club. Looking forward to an even bigger and better 2007!
