first meeting and open registration!February 4th, 2006 Kingwood Triathlon Club held its first meeting and open registration. We had a great turnout of about 34 people and registered 26 new members. We will continue to accept new members with the first group training activity scheduled on April 4th, 2006. Future goals of the club, group training opportunities, and the the upcoming Kingwood Mardi Gras Parade were discussed. All board members and committee heads were introduced and volunteers for each committee signed up. Additional volunteers are always needed. Please contact Tina to sign up!
mardi gras in kingwood!Throw me something mister!! On Saturday, February 25, 2006, Kingwood Triathlon Club members and their families all dressed up in team shirts and braved the rain to hand out beads and frisbees. Although there were not a lot of people out in the bad weather, our picture with our sign was posted on the www.kingwoodnow.com website. We hope to attend this event next year and have better weather.
austin marathon!February 19th, 2006 Congrats to those who managed to survive the 30 degree weather in Austin on Saturday. It was a very cold day for a marathon and with a late start, runners were bundling up with each other to keep warm. I am sure a few made new friends this way! The course was very well run with lots of volunteers and amazingly, a good number of spectators braved the cold weather to support the runners. The race director did an excellent job of preventing injuries at the water stations by using sand to prevent freezing.
special guest?
During the Austin Marathon Expo, Jama and Tina met Brad Davison, the president of USAT. Lucky for us, they had their business cards and discussed Kingwood Triathlon Club. Brad is also from Kingwood and is excited to come and talk with us in the near future. birthdays!March
