4th Quarter

(October – December 2007)

Well, as we all know, good things must come to an end.  KTC had a great 2nd season and we definitely ended the season with a bang at our “season finale” November 17th.

In October KTC members raced in Try Andy’s as well as Ironstar.  Try Andy’s is a wonderful race for first timers and we had a total of 6 members competing and we earned a total of 17 points for the South Midwest Club region.  At Ironstar, KTC had 7 individual racers and 3 teams complete the ˝ Ironman.  We were also well represented with our great volunteers whom worked both the swim transition as “strippers” as well as the finish line!  KTC earned a total of 28.5 points for the SMW region race. This year, the race was a point to point race, creating two transition areas and the finish line in downtown Conroe.  For spectators, the finish was a lot of fun with lots of club tents and great music.  For 2008, KTC will continue to participate in both of these well organized races!

At our Season Finale (Nov. 17th), we had a great turn out of 88 members and their guests.  Some of our sponsors made it to the event as well (Massage Envy, Tri on the Run, Triumph Coaching, Homebody Fitness, and Woodlands Prevention).  The food was catered by Tin Roof and everyone enjoyed the brisket, chicken and cobbler!

Awards were given out to the top male and female athlete for the South Midwest Region (Ron Kopplin and Julie Mosier-Crosno) as well as the top male and female who competed in the most races for South Midwest Region (Jeff Pack and Cindi Vargas).  We also had a great raffle that consisted of donated items from all our sponsors with our Grand Package including a Cyclops trainer from Bike Lane, a TYR swim bag, suit, kick board and fins from Lane 4, a $100 gift certificate from Lukes Locker, and a 1.5 hour massage from Massage Envy.

To summarize the entire year, we watched a power point presentation with slides from all our club races and club social events.  What a great way to end an evening!

Now its December and the season is finally over and everyone can enjoy the well deserved time off from training.  Now is the time to begin to focus on family and enjoying the holidays.  January is just around the corner and off season training (focusing on technique and beginning to build endurance) will be here quicker than you realize.

Enjoy the holidays and we look forward to an even better season for 2008!  We hope to add new training opportunities as well as more hands on lectures.  So continue to check out the website and watch for our open house/club picnic in February (a great time to meet new members and have fun!).
