I’ve been doing triathlons for over 10 years
including: 3 ˝ Ironmans, 4 marathons (Boston 2004), numerous sprint and Olympic
distances and swimming the English Channel as a 4-man relay team in 2001. I
started this club to organize a group to train with and have more fun while
working toward my ultimate goal of going to Kona for the Hawaii Ironman. |

I owned a fitness business, raised three
children, and got into the corporate world. With the added work stress, I gained
25 pounds. Inspired by the Hawaii Ironman, I began to train/compete in
triathlons. I have completed 2 marathons, several sprint/Olympic triathlons, and
one 1/2 Ironman. I co-founded Kingwood Triathlon Club to create camaraderie and
help others achieve their goals. |

In May 2004, I was 60 pounds overweight and
totally out of shape. I started working out with a trainer, and after meeting
Jama at the local pool, I started thinking about doing a tri. That became the
goal that I used for motivation, and in August 2005, I did “Try Andy’s Tri” (my
first and only, so far) and was hooked! |

I love the outdoors. Family, horses and fitness let me spend most
of my time outside. I teach horse back riding and dressage
training, when I am not being a mom and wife. I have been a runner
since Junior High and did quite well through High School. In 2005,
I wanted to try something more challenging and new so I did my first
triathlon. I was hooked! I look forward to the new
challenges in this sport and with KTC. |

I was a competitive swimmer in
High School and college. I was an NCAA All American, Olympic Trials Qualifier
for backstroke and IM, and 200 Backstroke US Open Champion. I joined Kingwood
Triathlon Club for camaraderie and friendships. |

What would
life be without challenges ? I rediscovered the joys of a long run, thanks to my
friend James McKissick, during vacations in Costa Rica. After watching from the
sidelines, at the 2007 Lifetime Triathlon, I decided to give triathlons a shot.
KTC provides the social balance that such a sport almost always lack. And
there's always something to learn from somebody ! |

After the
birth of our third child in 2000,
I was looking for something to motivate me to get back into shape. I enjoyed cycling
and a close friend had recently been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis,
so the MS 150 was an obvious choice. As I crossed the finish line
, my close friend informed me that I would have to do a triathlon with
her. There was a slight problem with her plan - I couldn't swim
and I hated to run! 6 weeks later I completed the Danskin triathlon in
Austin, with a good bit of backstroking and praying that I would not
drown. Since then I have competed in several sprint, olympic,
international and a half ironman distance events across 5 triathlon
seasons. I am happy to report that I am finally calm in open water
and I dislike running a little bit less. |

I grew up
with competition as a part of my life. I competed in T-ball, soccer, swimming,
softball, and volleyball. I am a 35-year-old wife, mother of three, and a
Maintenance Superintendent at a chemical plant in Houston. I missed athletic
competition in my adult life so I started running in 2003. I was hooked after
my first race… Bridgefest in Kingwood! I completed my first Houston Marathon in
2006. But I truly found my passion once I did my first triathlon on a
15-year-old mountain bike later the same year. I joined Kingwood Triathlon Club
in 2007 where I found my second family who I train, race, and socialize with! |
